You need approx. 718 m / 785 yds of fingering weight yarn in a neutral color AND an equal amount of fingering weight scraps or miniskeins various colours. I used 2 skeins of grey undyed wool for the sample. Below is a suggestion for a suitable yarn for the background color. NOTE that the scraps are not included in the materials list here!
