Product Details
A crescent-shaped shawlette with simple lace accents and a stockinette ground. The name ‘Lunate’ means moon-shaped.
The lace columns have a slightly twisted, textured appearance which is achieved by reversing the usual direction of the decreases.
Skills needed include the garter tab cast-on, knit and purl stitches, and simple lace knitting using yarn-overs and k2tog & ssk decreases. The instructions are written, not charted, and every second row is a purled ‘rest’ row. This would be a suitable project for beginning lace knitters.
Materials: 410 yards / 375 metres of fingering-weight yarn. I used one skein of Vintage Purls Sock (75% merino, 25% nylon; 420yds/384m per 100g skein), in ‘Jaune D’antimoine’. Choose a yarn with good drape, in a solid or semi-solid colour. A variegated or speckle-dyed yarn would also suit Lunate’s simple lace and stockinette texture.
Pattern is for personal use only.
A suggested substitute yarn is shown below.
