The Lava Lace Shawl is inspired by the beautiful black landscape and lava flows of the Big Island of Hawaii! It is knit from side-to-side, beginning with stripes that increase into a lace section before decreasing with more stripes.
Measurements: Wingspan: 72” / 183cm; Depth: 14” / 36cm Yarn: Main Color (MC) - Light Fingering Weight: 420yds / 384m; Contrasting Color (CC) - Lace Weight Mohair (held double) or Light Fingering Weight: 410yds / 375m
Needles: US 5 / 3.75mm 16-24” / 40-60cm circular needle or size required to obtain gauge. US 4/ 3.5mm 16-24” / 40-60cm circular needle or one size smaller than needle used to obtain gauge. Notions: Tapestry needle Gauge: 22 sts x 34 rows = 4” in garter stitch, blocked. Gauge is not crucial but variations will affect yardage and final measurements.
