Hogmanay Hoolie Tea Cosy
The Hogmanay Hoolie Tea Cosy is a fun tea cosy with a Scottish theme and its based on a very old new years eve custom. So get your knitting needles at the ready to knit yourself an eye popping tea cosy that will make you feel all festive and ready to ring the New Year in.
The Hogmanay Hoolie tea cosy is based on an old Highland tradition of dressing in your best kilt whilst wearing a hide of a Highland cattle, and dancing around the roof of the village blackhouses chanting a hogmanay poem, whilst other hogmanay revellers hit him with sticks. All the fun of a New Years party!
The highland cattle hide is draped over the body of the man. The fur of the bull is achieved with King Cole Moments DK Ginger. It makes the hide look woolly and plush.
The pattern is for a confident knitter because at times the pattern asks you to work from two needles in parallel, similar to a three needle bind off, without the binding off part.
