Product details

Halyna is a little cardigan worked using the continuous, tail-free motif method. The construction mimics the classic top-down raglan, whereby the yoke is worked first and the sleeves and the body are added to it creating a seamless, one-piece garment.

The continuous motif method is also known as ”Japanese motifs” (Nihon Vogue Sha) and ”seamless crochet” (Kristin Omdahl) and should only leave you a few ends to weave in. The pattern uses the US crochet terminology.

SIZES (finished garment circumference at bust, when closed):

S1 - 33" (84cm) S2 - 35¾" (91cm) M1 – 39" (99cm)M2 - 42¼" (108cm) L1 - 45" (114cm) L2 - 48¾" (124cm)

The pattern contains detailed written instructions and a chart for creating a 3x3 motif swatch, which should be sufficient to memorize the motif and understand the continuous motif method. The actual garment instructions are descriptive and the crocheter is expected to be experienced enough to be able work from the motif layout diagrams of the garment.

Required skills:

  • Crocheting motifs with lace-weight yarn
  • Crocheting garments

Helpful but NOT required skills:

  • Reading charts
  • Knowledge of the continuous motif method
