Because this pattern is mostly based on measurements and not on row counts, gauge is not very important. Pick the yarn and the hook that gives you the fabric that you want by making a gauge swatch. If you want a thick chunky scarf use a smaller hook (6 or 7 mm) or thicker yarn. If you’d prefer a more flowy and thin scarf, use a bigger hook (8 or 9 mm).
