Fairies in the Snow is a crescent-shaped shawl that calls for 2 skeins of fingering/sock yarn and has a variety of fun stitch patterns that are easy to learn. It has "beginner lace" - short repeats, and even if you make a mistake, you'll never have to rip back too far. The pattern is designed to make knitting enjoyable, not tedious or maddening.
