Product Details
There are three, 8 to 11 cm exotic butterflies included in this pattern: the green peacock, hebomoia butterfly and the false tiger moth . You’ll find the pattern for the 6 cm moon orchid at the end. Each butterfly is a small, easy to medium difficult project to be done in an evening or so, with small amounts of yarns are needed. So a butterfly is a great project to use up any scraps you have lying around.
These were knitted flat (with some intarsia color work, i-cords and retaining partial rows on the needle unworked) on 1.00 mm double pointed needles in a lace-gauged yarn, but they can also be done in a heavier yarn and will then turn out slightly larger.
Using single plies pulled from strands of (merino) wool or firm cotton yarn is an easy way of obtaining lace-gauged strands of yarn.
The butterflies can be attached to just about anything, as an embellishment. Or, start your own butterfly collection - lepidopterarium with a fancy word – as there are more patterns available!
