Product Details
This gansey is Beth's interpretation of a Scottish Eriskay gansey from Rae Compton’s book, The Complete Book of Traditional Guernsey and Jersey Knitting. I love the large motifs on the body!
FEATURED TECHNIQUES
Split garter stitch welts, seam sts, initials, underarm gussets, Knit/purl motifs, shoulder straps with gussets, sleeves and neckband are picked up. Circularly knit from CO to armhole, then split to work the front and the back, sleeves and neckband are worked in the round.
PLEASE NOTE: The sizes stated are the finished garment dimensions. Ease has been added already. So size 44" would be appropriate for a chest of 40" to 42", depending how loosely you like your fit.
A note about YARNS...I highly recommend this sweater be knitted in Frangipani Guernsey yarn, or one of the other traditional Guernsey yarns. The result is more traditional, the motifs will be clear and crisp and the sweater will last a lifetime!
