Materials needed: bulky weight yarn, K10.5/6.50mm crochet hook (or hook needed for gauge), two buttons, yarn needle (for weaving in ends).
Recommended yarn - Bulky Weight. (Not super bulky!) I used Lion Brand "Baby's First" yarn when writing this pattern, and that is what's used in all the pictures.
