I recently joined a group that knits & crochets for charity. After my first meeting I discovered that the group needs beanies for homeless men and so I have spent the last week knitting 8 beanies for the group. The beanies are made from a variety of 4 and 5 ply yarns using oddballs from my stash (some from the 1970s!!!) and in a range of pure wool, wool mix, acrylic and nylon to suit individual preferences. Both navy beanies (top left & bottom right) arefrom 100% 5 ply Acrylic (made in Japan). Black & cream beanie (top row) black is Cleckheaton 5 ply & cream is Patons Bluebell 5 ply. Plain cream beanie from Patons Big Baby. Orange beanie from Sirdar Fontein Crepe 4 ply. Green variegated/tweed beanie (left bottom row) from Patons Patonyle 4 ply. Green & white beanie from Tiptoe 5 ply and Patons Snowhite 5 ply. Cream & navy beanie from Patons Bluebell and Cleckheaton Country 5 ply (which has a hand spun look). Yarns listed below are equivalent styles, ply and look to those actually used.
