    About

He'll be a May baby so I thought a short sleeved cardigan may come in useful.
I used my favourite top down method pattern and added a design at the bottom.
The basic cardigan pattern can be found here:
    https://youtu.be/pPbYVfasRU0?si=yX2lJLI0tDndJhQE
The design at the bottom I started on the 10th row from under the armpit. The pattern repeat (make sure you have an even number of stitches):
Row 1: k3 for button band, slip marker, p1, keep yarn in front, s1pw, p1* continue until 3 stitches remain, slip marker, k3 for button band.
Row 2: k3 for button band, slip marker, p1, *k1, p1* continue until 3 stitches remain, slip marker, k3 for button band.
Row 3: k3 for button band, slip marker, purl across until 3 stitches remain, slip marker, k3 for button band.
Row 4: k3 for button band, slip marker, knit across until 3 stitches remain, slip marker, k3 for button band.
Row 5: As for row 3.
Row 6: As for row 4.
I repeated the pattern 3 times in total, remembering to add button holes

Is this a Marianna Mel pattern? I love her top-downs

No. It's from a self help YouTube channel by someone called TeoMakes. I adapted her stocking stitch long sleeve cardigan into being short sleeved and used a design pattern from a 1960's pattern a friend had sent me from her mum's pattern collection she'd inherited. I'll look up Marianna Mel as I've never heard of her. Thanks

@First Time Knitter: look on ravelry, also goes under Marianna's lazy daisy or something like that.... Lots of free patterns mostly newborn but some up to one year and lots of top down 😁

Sweet little cardigan. Lovely simple design. 😍
I am looking for a top down pattern. Are you able to list it please? If that’s a problem maybe just direct me to the right website? 🙏

I've added the pattern in the project description. Enjoy. When picking up the sleeves I use this method to prevent holes underneath: (fast forward to around 33 minutes in) https://youtu.be/pbak8Mey2Eg?si=u0qvcatwhbrSQb3s

Lovely little cardgan. So much easier doing the top down ones for babies.
