One more doll completed and one to go. I used a mix of King Cole Opium and James C Brett Chunky yarn for the hair. I have been making a weft as a means of attaching the hair to the doll. It's a bit fiddly but it is definitely a method I will be using when I get back to my knitted dolls. I love the opium yarn it gives a lovely texture to the hair and really makes a statement. The last photo is the yarn I am using for my next doll.

  Ohh she is absolutely perfect Denise, I love these colours. I just saw you do the hair by using the weft method, does that mean you sew it somehow. Looking forward to seeing your next beautiful doll. 😊I have just starting learning now to crochet as I would like to try and make some crochet toys just for a change.😊😊

  Thanks Michelle. A weft is when you sew the strands of yarn to a length of ribbon then you attach the ribbon to the doll. It's hard to describe but if you google it there are lots of you tube videos showing how it's done. Good luck with the crocheting I used to be able to do some very basic crochet but that was when I was very young. I don't think I could do it now but there are some lovely crochet patterns.

  @Denise C: I did look it up and it does look a great way of doing the hair Denise as it would make it a lot more secure and you could use all different types of wool so that would be fun.😊I don't think I will be very good at crochet but it is fun trying. 😊

  I so love this pink one Denise you are exceptionally good at creating these rag dolls and the hair is amazing. I loved Matilda but you've definitely raised the stakes with this one and by using the opium yarn. Dusky pinks are my favourite colour so it ticks every box for me.

  Thanks Christine. Your talent is for making amazing critters and mine is for dolls! I'm with you on the colour. I was really pleased with the colours of the first doll but I much prefer the dusky pinks. I love lilacs and purples but mostly in the flower beds! I was so disappointed when I was asked to make two in these colours and then my friend asked for the same colours too. I just wanted to move on and do something different. I needed 100gm yarn for the hair and the opium was only 50 gm and I knew it wouldn't work on its own. The deeper pink was too dark but when I put them both together (out of desperation) it worked. So I am now looking to make another doll to use the pink again as I love it so much!

  Thanks Sue. I have had the opium yarn for a while. It is a 50 gm ball and I knew that it would not be enough for the hair so I put it to one side in the hope that I would find a use for it. I then ordered the pink yarn for the hair and it was much darker than I expected so that was put to one side too and I decided to wait for the local craft shop to open so I could see the actual colour of the yarn before I bought any more. Because I don't like waste, I eventually tried both colours together and it worked, although it wasn't until I actually made the weft that I was convinced that it did! So to wrongs definitely made a right in this case!

  Oh Dianne I am so torn. I love my knitting but as you know dolls are my thing and I love making the rag dolls. They are so pretty and I love the hair and the dresses. I look at the patterns for rag dolls on etsy and the are asolutely fab. I feel like there is so much more I would like to try but I also want to get back to knitting. I also think that doing something new has been a distraction from the situation we are in at the moment. I am also doing a bit of a makeover in the garden which is proving to be hard work. We are getting a new fence in June (can't get anything earlier) and I decided it was the right time to remove shrubs that aren't working and put some new shrubs in. It has made me realise that Michael and I are getting older and finding things harder to do! I've one more doll to do and after that I am just going to go with the flow. I do have another pattern that I want to try but it is much simpler to do than this one. So I will just do what I feel like doin

  @Denise C: I know what you mean Denise but you are having such fun with the rag dolls maybe that’s the way to go just now, it’s a different challenge to knitting and it’s nice to learn new skills. I had started a Wrendales cross stitch until my wrist complained and I decided to put it away but trying something different was great, I’ve done lots of crafts in my time. I’m sure we’ll both get back to knitting too though, there’s always the lure of Xmas knitting! I think you’re right as we get older things are more of an effort but I’m sure your garden will turn out great.
