I've just found out that I'm to be a Granny again so I'm starting on a shawl for the new baby. Gender will be a surprise on delivery so I've decided to go for a traditonal white yarn
**Based my stitches on a pattern I found on the internet, using what I think is called Sedge Stitch (sc, 2dc in every third chain on 1st row followed by sc, 2dc into the sc on the next and subsequent rows). I wanted a shawl approx 100cm square so I did a small tension gauge and found that each group of stitches measured approx 2.25cm so I decided on 135 chain (stitch requires multiples of 3 plus 2) whether this turns out the right size only time will tell!
**CHANGE - after around 6 rows I realised that my piece wasn't as wide as I wanted so I recalculated and started again with 149 stitches.
