The pattern is written for five colors, but could easily be worked with more or fewer...there's room to be creative!
This hat is worked from the bottom up in the round, starting with 1x1 ribbing. From there you will knit stockinette throughout, and the colorwork continues all the way to the top while decreases are worked for the crown.
