Détails du produit

The Welsh Lovespoon is traditionally a wooden spoon, decoratively carved, as a gift of romantic intent.

Today, Lovespoons are given for wedding and anniversary presents, to celebrate the arrival of a new baby or simply as a symbol of friendship and caring.

This one, according to tradition, symbolises two people coming together forever in everlasting love (the twisted stem and celtic knotwork).

YOU WILL NEED 100 m DK yarn, an appropriate sized hook (I used a 3.50 mm hook), a stitch marker and a needle for weaving in ends. The stiffer the yarn the better. Work tightly to avoid a floppy spoon!

GAUGE is variable depending on yarn chosen but, if you aim for 4sts and 4 rows of UK dc to 2.5 cm (1") you should achieve a spoon approximately 22.5 cm (9“) in length.

Several rows of slip stitching in back and front loops are used to create the texture of the handle. For this reason, I rate the pattern as intermediate.

Pattern is available in both UK and US terms. Pattern is fully tested. Picture tutorial is provided to help with knotwork.

If you’d like to work the little padlock shown - a symbol of security, you can find the US version as a free add-on here and the UK Version here.
