This fabulous poncho can be worn year round! I like it for cool spring or cool summer nights as well as in the fall and winter. Knit with size 10 (6mm) needles and worsted weight (9wpi). Preferable to knit with cotton or cotton blend or yarn that has a nice drape to it.
Knit from the top down, you will start with a circular needle and knit in the round, later you will knit back and forth on the front and back pieces. There are no seams and because the neck has a natural roll to it, there is no ribbing to knit either. It is a rather mindless knit, great for car rides, waiting at the doctors office, etc. The ties on the sides, just under the sleeves, end up making the poncho appear to have a little shaping, which is nice. This poncho is meant to be roomy - like any poncho. There are 2 sizes: Sm/Med = 46” wide x 27.75” long. LG = 48” wide x 28.25” long. Stitches used are: Knit, purl, ssk, ssp, sl-2, psso, k2tog, p2tog, kfb. Skill level - I would say easy to intermediate.
