Hat shown is worked in a Yarn specific to Australia (BWM). The best substitute for this would be. King Cole Merino Blend in Aran.
Ribbing is worked first. Then the Main Body of the hat is worked. This is made up of Split Puff stitches (photos to show how), Back Post Double/Treble Crochet and alternating in rows in two colours. The result is quite a unique looking hat.
