Sometimes a quick to knit throw makes a great gift or an easy way to use up yarn you thought was perfect for a design you later fell out of love with. Add a couple of coordinating pillows, and you're ready for a cozy winter evening.

Inspired by nine patch quilting patterns, these pieces work up quickly, and by weaving in ends as you go, finishing is a breeze! All three pieces are worked modularly, building one square off the next. Diagrams are included that show the order and direction that the squares are worked.

Some blocks are simple squares of garter stitch, while other squares are mitered blocks also worked in garter stitch. The yarn used is a long repeat gradient. If you don't have that on hand, use two (or more) solid colors and create your own gradient fade.

The throw requires 6 balls (653yds/597m) of yarn, the square pillow requires 3 balls (345yds/315m), and the neck roll requires 2 balls (219yds/200m).
