I've used Hobbii Twister Solid (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 400m/100g = 437 yd/3.5 oz) – 4 skeins (I used just over 3 for the blanket + a bit for the swatch), used 2 strands at a time. You can use any DK weight yarn in the same fashion, or 1 strand of worsted weight. I recommend using not-too-soft, well-twisted yarn for good stitch definition. Using 2 strands held together creates a more drapery fabric, compared to 1 strand of worsted.
