Lady Floriombra

According to family legend, Lady Floriombra was a Renaissance embroiderer who vanished without a trace, leaving behind patterns as mysterious as her disappearance. This shawl imagines one of those lost fragments, recovered and reassembled with care. Two mirrored halves, reunited after centuries carrying echoes of secret shadows and jasmine scent.

Lady Floriombra is a stole built like a rediscovered manuscript: two halves, worked from the tip toward the center, joined with care to preserve the flow of the motif. The marlisle technique blends laceweight yarn with mohair for a soft, hazy texture, while the geometric pattern plays with symmetry and interruption, echoing the idea of an unfinished embroidery finally pieced together.

The work is started at each of the points with an i-cord CO of just a few sts. The design grows organically with increases interspersed between the delicate lines until it reaches its final width. The lines evolve into lovely branches topped with little bobbles
