If you have never attempted a lace knit before this is the ideal place to start. It is an easy one row repeat pattern with no complicated shaping so an excellent starter piece, with the added bonus of being a stylish accessory for your home or a great gift idea for a loved one. A chunky/aran cotton yarn works best for this project. For this pattern I used Yarn and Colors Zen which is 84% cotton and 36% nylon. I find the nylon content really helps with the stretch when hanging and brings out the lace pattern. Another option would be Rico Fashion Jersey which has the same fibre content. I used a crochet hook for the cast on and to make the hanging strands. If you are unfamiliar with crochet I have included alternative options. The crochet cast on is recommended as it produces a similar edging to traditional cast-off. There are some great tutorials on YouTube if you need help with this.
