Détails du produit

In ancient Egypt, gold was thought to be a divine and indestructible substance. It was used to make jewelry as well as to cover statues of gods, tombs, and furniture of the Pharaohs.

The skin of the gods was thought to be made of gold. This led to the Egyptians covering the sarcophagus of Pharaohs upon their deaths, and Tutankhamun even wore a solid gold funeral mask, as well as an Usekh collar or necklace. The Usekh was draped around the neck and supported by the shoulders.

The Egyptian Gold shawl is designed to look like an Usekh.

From the book Ancient Egypt in Lace and Color by Anna Dalvi, published by Cooperative Press.
