Gothic series Part II

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Reims is one of the most famous examples of High Gothic architecture. In 1991, it was one of the first buildings ever to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The majority of the church, including the rose windows, was built in the 13th century.

The motif of the Cathedral Socks shows a section of the North Rose of Reims. The other elements of the socks are inspired from typical Gothic architectural elements. Those of you with an architectural interest will also recognize the buttresses that “support” the arch of the foot in these socks and are typically found on the sides of churches.

A detailed step-by-step guide for stranded colourwork socks from size US 4 to 13, which are knitted toe up. The socks have a horseshoe heel and gussets. You can choose from 4 widths with 60, 64, 68 or 72 stitches, so you get a great fit. The instructions are adapted to highquality sock yarn of Hand dyers and should not be knitted with thinner yarn.
