These fingerless mitts are another piece inspired by the rocks on display at the Geo Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. The piece of Anorthosite (used in the process of making aluminum and fiberglass) was mined in Ten Mile Bay in northern Labrador and was still in its rough-cut block form,  looking as it did when shipped from the quarry.

  • Slipped stitches
  • Blocking

Other Tools:

  • Stitch marker (3)
  • Glow line tape (to mark current row on charts/instructions).
  • Scrap yarn in contrasting colour
  • Blunt tip tapestry needle to duplicate stitch and weave in ends.

Yarn: 140 (160) yards/128 (146) meters of wool DK weight yarn that knits up to 5 sts/inch.MC: 100 (110) yards/91 (101) meters; CC: 40 (50) yards/37 (46) meters
