What does your name say about you? Most creative names in the US revealed

Most of us don’t choose our own name, yet they help form our identity.

Research has shown that a name is associated with characteristics, behaviors and even facial appearance!* Therefore we wanted to find out if there were any parallels between a name and a person's creative ability.

After thoroughly analysing internal data from the last three years, as well as the names of the top 100 most successful professionals in the U.S across the creative industries, including photography, fashion, literature, music and fine art, we are excited to reveal the names of the most creative people in North America!

As well as analysing our data, we have surveyed 3,000 of you to discover your crafting habits before and during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The research found that just over a quarter (27%) of you have spent time crafting during the Covid-19 lockdown, which is a 68% increase in comparison to before the pandemic, where just a sixth (16%) of Americans spent their spare time crafting in any form.

When we asked you why you were crafting during the pandemic, roughly seven in ten of you (73%) said ‘help with anxiety’, whereas one in ten (11%) said ‘to make gifts they cannot buy’ and surprisingly only 7% said ‘to curb boredom’.

We also looked into the types of crafts most popular during lockdown. Crocheting came out on top with a 42% rise in pattern downloads, closely followed by knitting at 28% and embroidery at 25%.

“With people around the world facing lockdown for the foreseeable future, it’s no surprise that more people are taking to crafting and making to keep themselves busy."

Edward Griffith, founder of LoveCrafts.com, said,

“With people around the world facing lockdown for the foreseeable future, it’s no surprise that more people are taking to crafting and making to keep themselves busy. Thousands of people go through our platform daily and as a result we are able to extrapolate a host of data and crafting trends, whether that’s what’s ‘hot’ in crafting right now, or where in the UK people craft the most.

“Therefore, we thought it would be fascinating to see which names are synonymous with the most ‘creative’ people, and incorporated a number of other creative sectors to get this data. We actually saw a clear pattern in the names across the industries, who knew there’s such a common parallel with names and creative talent!”
