Product Description

Easy pattern for amigurumi gallade. Difficulty level advanced beginner to intermediate. Uses small amounts of yarn in green, white, pink/red, and blue. Stitches used: single crochet, slip stitch, half double crochet (only on large whiskers). Gauge not really important—I use a g hook but I have a pretty tight tension so you may need to go down a hook size or two if you don’t. Different yarn can be used, just adjust hook size accordingly.

Amigurumi Gallade Crochet Pattern

What is Being Made

This is a downloadable crochet pattern for an Amigurumi Gallade, a stuffed toy created by designer Aria Raymond. Amigurumi is the Japanese craft of crocheting small, soft, three-dimensional stuffed figures. The Gallade design is worked as a collection of individual pieces that are subsequently sewn together to create the finished toy.

Difficulty Level and Skill Requirements

The pattern is rated as advanced beginner to intermediate level. While the majority of the work is completed using basic single crochet stitches—which allows the project to work up relatively quickly—the pattern requires intermediate skills in shaping techniques and assembly. The individual pieces themselves are not difficult to construct, but the sewing together of multiple components demands precision and attention to detail.

Crochet Techniques and Stitches Used

The Amigurumi Gallade pattern primarily employs the following crochet techniques and stitches:

  • Single Crochet (sc): The foundational stitch used throughout most of the pattern for creating the main fabric of each piece
  • Single Crochet Two Together (sc2tog): A decrease stitch used for shaping the amigurumi pieces to achieve the proper three-dimensional form
  • Half Double Crochet (hdc): An alternative stitch incorporated into the pattern for specific sections
  • Slip Stitch (sl st): Used for joining rounds and securing stitches
  • Shaping and Sewing: The pattern requires careful shaping of individual components followed by assembly using a sewing needle, which is essential to the intermediate difficulty rating

Materials and Tools Required

The Amigurumi Gallade pattern calls for the following materials and equipment:

  • Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (also known as aran weight) in multiple colors including white, green, pink, and blue
  • Hook: A 4.0 mm crochet hook, or an appropriate hook size matched to your yarn weight and personal tension
  • Stuffing: Fiberfill or polyester stuffing to fill the completed pieces and create the three-dimensional form
  • Embroidery Materials: Embroidery floss or yarn in red, gold, and black for adding facial details such as eyes, pupils, and mouth
  • Notions and Tools: A large-eyed blunt sewing needle for assembling the pieces, stitch markers for tracking rounds, and scissors

The pattern includes a comprehensive abbreviations section for easy reference while crocheting.
