Glasha the Raccoon Crochet Pattern

What is Being Made

Glasha the Raccoon is a crocheted amigurumi-style toy designed by Yulia Ogol of LittleOwlsHut. This is a stuffed animal project created using continuous spiral crochet techniques, resulting in a charming raccoon figure suitable for display or play.

Craft and Primary Technique

This pattern is worked entirely in crochet, using the continuous spiral method. Rather than joining rounds with a slip stitch, the crocheter works in continuous spirals without breaking yarn or joining. A stitch marker is essential for tracking the beginning of each round—the marker is moved up to the first stitch of the next round after completing the previous one. If a traditional stitch marker is unavailable, a contrasting scrap of yarn can serve as an alternative.

Stitches Used

While the pattern description focuses on the continuous spiral construction method, the specific stitch abbreviations and techniques are detailed within the full pattern instructions. The pattern uses USA crochet terminology throughout.

Materials and Tools

Yarn: The pattern calls for moderately fluffy yarn in three colors—white, black, and grey. The designer used Angora REAL 40 by Alize (100g/480 m), requiring less than 50 grams of each color. The pattern notes that any moderately fluffy yarn works, including wool or acrylic options. Important to note: thicker yarn will result in a larger finished toy, so yarn weight directly affects the final size. Refer to the gauge section for specific sizing information.

Tools: A 2 mm crochet hook is required, along with a stitch marker to track round beginnings during continuous spiral construction.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated at Intermediate skill level, making it suitable for crocheters with foundational knowledge of basic stitches and techniques who are ready to tackle more complex projects like amigurumi construction.
