Product Description
This asymmetrical wrap is worked side-to-side, starting with 1 stitch and increasing by 1 stitch every row. This creates an asymmetrical triangle with a right angle at the bottom corner.
There is no mathematical reason for the thicknesses of the colour changes, and the number of rows per colour block is totally random. I worked up this wrap while I was on a road trip and simply changed the colours when I felt like it! I thought I would keep this whimsical detail in the final copy.
This wrap has been professionally tech edited to be as correct as possible.

White Noise Triangle Wrap by Janine Myska
What Is Being Made
The White Noise Triangle Wrap is a crocheted triangular shawl designed by Janine Myska. This wrap features a finished width of approximately 72 inches (183 cm) and a depth of approximately 34 inches (86 cm), making it a generous accessory suitable for layering and draping. The design uses a two-color colorwork approach with a main color and contrasting color to create visual interest and texture.
Craft and Technique
This is a crochet project, classified as a beginner-level design, making it accessible to those new to crochet while still producing a sophisticated finished garment. The pattern employs fundamental crochet techniques that build foundational skills without requiring advanced shaping methods or complex stitch combinations.
Stitches Used
The primary stitch used throughout this wrap is single crochet, which forms the basis of the construction. Single crochet creates a dense, structured fabric that provides excellent drape and durability, making it ideal for a wrap that will be worn and handled frequently.
Materials and Yarn Weight
The White Noise Triangle Wrap is designed to be worked in Aran weight yarn (category 4, medium weight). The original pattern specifies:
- Main Colour: Lion Brand Vanna's Choice in Dark Grey Heather (100% acrylic), approximately 430 yards (394 meters) across 3 skeins
- Contrasting Colour: Bernat Premium in Grey Marl (100% acrylic), approximately 230 yards (211 meters) across 1 skein
The pattern permits yarn substitution with any similar category 4 medium weight yarns that match the specified gauge. For crafters seeking a lighter drape suitable for spring and summer seasons, the designer notes that a lighter yarn weight may be used as an alternative.
Tools and Gauge
This project requires a U.S. Size J/10 (6 mm) crochet hook or the size needed to obtain the specified gauge. The pattern calls for a gauge of 11 stitches by 10 rows over 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) in single crochet. Achieving proper gauge is essential for obtaining the finished measurements and ensuring the wrap drapes as intended. A tapestry needle is also needed for weaving in yarn ends upon completion.
