Summer retro style meets function and versatility in this fun crochet hexagon tote bag. I used an easy hexagon pattern and added a little visual interest by adding a pop of color, to create the main portion of the bag. Basic crochet stitches were then used to form the bag’s solid, sturdy bottom and strap. This crochet hexagon pattern will be a fun challenge for advanced beginners and it will keep experienced crocheters from losing interest. Use your bag as a crochet project bag, beach bag, or everyday tote bag – customize it to suit your taste by playing around with color, or by adding tassels, poms, and more!
Yarn: I used Lily Sugar n’ Cream cotton yarn for my bag.

The pattern includes helpful guidance for customizing the fit. Beginning chains are not counted in the stitch count unless otherwise specified. The first stitch of each row is worked into the same stitch as the turning chain, a standard construction method. Designer Jennifer Renaud notes that she crochets on the tighter side; crafters who work with a looser tension may need to go down one or two hook sizes to achieve proper gauge and maintain the intended dimensions of the finished tote bag.
Rated as intermediate, this pattern assumes familiarity with basic crochet stitches and techniques. The straightforward construction with gauge measurements provided for each section makes it accessible to crafters progressing beyond beginner projects while offering a satisfying, wearable result.
