Suggested yarn weight is heavy worsted to aran . . . however, the sample was done holding two strands of a fingering weight together.

Any yarn can be used . . . this is a "recipe" pattern that will give you the basics on how to start with a foundation half double crochet base, work the ribbing stitch pattern, and end with slip stitch accent rows at each end.
