Selbu Snowfall Hat

This pattern contains instructions to make this hat two ways. The first has just the Selbu roses/snowflakes with a plain crown. The second adds a sprinkling of decorative “lice” to the crown. Yes, they’re really called lice! It’s a traditional Norwegian motif used extensively in warm woolen knitwear that looks like little insects have landed on the top of your hat. So cute!

I have included charts with the light color dominant and the dark color dominant. I find it is easier to follow a chart when it matches my selected color scheme. I think you will, too. There are 4 charts in all, and directions for two sizes, adult large and child’s small. Size can also be adjusted by using larger or smaller yarn and needles.
