Product Description
Now serving pumpkin pie and coffee! Welcome the fall/Thanksgiving/Christmas/winter season with this unique scarf. Basic crochet stitches were used including double crochet, single crochet, and chain.
This is an intermediate pattern, and can be finished as a weekend project with a minimal amount of supplies. The most amount of yarn I used was Redheart “Fall”, and I only used half a skein for the scarf itself.
Soak the scarf in hair conditioner overnight to soften the yarn. Machine washing is okay, but air dry only.

What Is Being Made
This scarf features a unique design incorporating crocheted pumpkin pie elements alongside coffee-themed components. The pattern creates a textured, dimensional scarf suitable for intermediate crocheters looking for a project with visual interest and thematic appeal.
Crochet Techniques Used
The Pumpkin Pie and Coffee Scarf employs several fundamental and intermediate crochet techniques to achieve its finished appearance:
- Foundation chains establish the base structure for pattern sections
- Double crochet stitches create the primary fabric density and drape
- Single crochet stitches provide tighter, more structured areas, particularly in the crust section
- Increases shape the pumpkin pie motif by adding stitches strategically
- Color changes transition between yarn colors mid-row to create visual definition between pie filling and crust
- Back loop only (BLO) stitching adds texture and dimensional detail
- Slip stitches join rounds and secure sections
Stitches Used
The pattern utilizes essential crochet stitches appropriate for intermediate skill levels:
- Chain (ch) - foundation and turning chains
- Double crochet (dc) - primary stitch for fabric body and pie sections
- Single crochet (sc) - used in crust rows for texture contrast
- Slip stitch (sl st) - joining and finishing
Materials and Yarn
The Pumpkin Pie and Coffee Scarf requires a variety of yarn weights and colors to achieve its thematic appearance. The pattern calls for Redheart Super Saver yarn in the Fall collection, including Carrot, Ranch Red, and White, plus Classic Warm Brown for the crust detail. White Sport yarn provides a lighter-weight option for specific elements.
Yarn weights used include 4-ply, Aran, worsted, and varied weights, allowing crafters to work with different yarn thicknesses throughout the project for textural variation.
Tools Required
Three crochet hook sizes are needed to complete this pattern: D, G, and H hooks. The varied hook sizes allow the crocheter to adjust fabric density and stitch size between different sections of the scarf. Additional supplies include a fabric sewing needle, white thread, and tan or beige thread for finishing and assembly details.
Difficulty Level
Rated as intermediate difficulty, this pattern assumes familiarity with basic crochet stitches and techniques. The color-changing technique, multiple hook sizes, and combination of different stitch types make this project suitable for crocheters with some experience who are ready to tackle more complex construction methods.
