Pineapple of My Eye Baby Blanket by Nana's Crafty Home
What is Being Made
The Pineapple of My Eye Baby Blanket is a beginner-friendly crochet blanket designed as a finished square measuring 30 inches. This downloadable PDF pattern from independent designer Nana's Crafty Home creates a decorative baby blanket suitable for gifting or personal use, featuring an attractive pineapple motif throughout the design.
Crochet Techniques Used
This project employs fundamental crochet techniques that make it accessible to beginners while creating visual interest through strategic stitch placement. The pattern uses a combination of basic stitches arranged in repeating rows to build the blanket structure. Techniques include working in the round to establish the initial foundation, creating corner spaces with chain stitches, and executing repeating stitch sequences that build upon each other row by row. The pattern incorporates directional stitch placement and uses slip stitches to join rounds, creating a cohesive, finished appearance.
Stitches Used
The Pineapple of My Eye Baby Blanket utilizes the following crochet stitches:
- Chain Stitch (ch) – The foundational stitch used to create the base and spacing throughout the pattern
- Double Crochet (dc) – The primary stitch that forms the body of the blanket, providing structure and density
- Slip Stitch (sl st) – Used to join rounds and connect sections seamlessly
- Pineapple Stitch (Ps) – A special cluster stitch that creates the distinctive pineapple texture. This stitch is executed by yarning over and inserting the hook as directed four times in the same location, pulling loops through, then working through multiple loops on the hook in sequence to create a decorative clustered effect
