Product Description
This cozy, oversized cardigan is the perfect project for you, if you like being wrapped in a soft and comforting cloud! It features an interesting "box" pattern made with a technique that might remind you of mosaic crochet, but it's not! It's way much easier than real mosaic crochet. The overall Funky style is achieved thanks to the color combination, as well as the glamorous and trendy puff sleeves. The body consists of 2 front pieces and a back piece. It is crocheted lengthways, bottom-up, meaning your crochet one big piece and then seam the front and back panels together, in order to create the gaps for the sleeves. The sleeves are then worked in round directly onto the cardigan. Two pockets are then added to give extra coziness to the final garment.

Phoenix Cardigan Crochet Pattern
What is Being Made
The Phoenix Cardigan is a crocheted cardigan garment designed by Bloodimaryart. This intermediate-level project creates a wearable layering piece inspired by the mythical phoenix, a symbol of renewal, strength, and rebirth from ancient Greek folklore. The cardigan is suitable for crafters with some crochet experience who are ready to tackle a more complex garment construction.
Craft and Primary Technique
This pattern is designed exclusively for crochet, making it ideal for fiber artists who work with a crochet hook rather than knitting needles. Crochet construction allows for flexible shaping and the creation of textured, dimensional fabric that works beautifully in cardigan designs. The intermediate difficulty level indicates that the pattern involves multiple techniques beyond basic single crochet and double crochet stitches, likely including shaping, increases, decreases, and garment assembly.
Yarn and Materials
The Phoenix Cardigan is designed to be worked in aran weight yarn, a medium-weight option that provides good stitch definition and drape for cardigan construction. Aran weight yarn works efficiently for garment projects, creating fabric with balanced density and structure. Crafters will need a crochet hook appropriate for aran weight yarn, typically in the range of 5.5–6.5 mm, though the specific hook size should be confirmed in the pattern instructions to achieve proper gauge and finished dimensions.
Stitches and Techniques
While the complete stitch list is not detailed in the provided pattern excerpt, intermediate crochet cardigans typically employ a variety of foundational and decorative stitches. Common techniques in cardigan patterns include:
- Single crochet and double crochet for fabric base
- Increases and decreases for shaping the body, sleeves, and neckline
- Ribbing or textured stitch patterns for cuffs and edging
- Seaming or joining techniques to assemble garment pieces
- Possible decorative elements or stitch variations that reflect the phoenix theme
Pattern Format and Designer
The Phoenix Cardigan is available as a downloadable PDF pattern created by independent designer Bloodimaryart. This format allows crafters to access the complete instructions immediately upon purchase and print them for reference during the project. The designer provides pattern support and maintains an active presence across multiple platforms including Instagram, Ravelry, and Etsy, offering additional resources and community connection for crafters working on this design.
