What is Being Made

The Lothlorien Cape is a knitted garment inspired by the enchanted forest realm from The Fellowship of the Ring. This intermediate-level cape measures 21 inches in length with a generous 92-inch circumference at the bottom edge, making it a dramatic, flowing piece suitable for layering or wearing as a statement accessory. The design captures the ethereal beauty of Lothlórien through its construction and stitch work.

Yarn and Materials

This project requires 1250 yards of DK weight yarn. The pattern was designed using Unique Sheep Wild Thing in the Naturewalk Gradience colorway, though any DK weight yarn of similar yardage and characteristics can be substituted. Additional materials include US size 6 needles (or the size needed to achieve proper gauge) and a cable needle for working cable stitches.

Gauge and Sizing

The gauge for this pattern is 4.5 stitches per 1 inch when measured over the stitch pattern. Achieving the correct gauge is essential to obtain the intended finished dimensions of the cape.
