Grizzly bear

The grizzly bear is often desctibed as fear-inspiring or gruesome,. But this knitted bear is just cute and adorable, both easygoing and easy to make!

This grizzly bear is a fast. fun project, knitted on 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK 13, US 1) in Lopi Einband (0887) chocolate, together with Lopi Einband (0885) oatmeal heather. It measures 18 cm from nose to bum. Soft toy filling was used to fill the bear, that can easily stand up unsupported. While knitting, some body parts are kept on spare needles, to be embodied into the knit later on. The project asks for some knitting in the round and flat and transferring of stitches

To give the bear its’ signature grizzled appearance, blend dark brown and greyish (lace-gauged) yarns. Not merely the colors, but also the textures of your chosen yarns define the bears’ look: Use a coarse or bristly type of yarn (like a tweed) for a rugged appearance or a thin, downy type yarn (like a mohair) for a woolly, shaggy look.
