Down East Slide

This pattern is special because I designed it while robins were nesting in a planter on my front porch. We watched the nest daily and the 3 eggs hatched successfully and grew into fledglings who eventually flew away into the trees in our yard. I chose yarn to remind me of those beautiful blue eggs!

The shawl also reminds me of lovely summers in Maine, with the blue water and wide coastline. It is a side-to-side shawl, starting at the end with just a few stitches, then growing with ever-widening rows across the back.
