Product Description
Dictynna is a split square shawl that works up incredibly fast in super bulky yarn. Available in two sizes: a small single skein and a larger two-skein version. You may remember Britomartis, the virgin huntress from my collection titled: [Poseidon’s Realm, Part One][1]. Artemis rewarded her for her virtue by granting her immortality as Dictynna, goddess of the nets.
This shawl is worked from the top down, beginning with a garter tab. Both written and charted instructions are included. It is easy to change the size and yarn weight on this shawl. You can work as many repeats of the Main Body as you want. Refer to the following guide for using different yarn weights/needles:
Lace - US 5-6 (3.75-4mm) Sock/Fingering - US 6-7 (4-4.5mm) Sport - US 7-9 (4-5.5mm) DK - US 9 -10 (5.5-6mm) Worsted - US 10.5-11 (6.5-8mm) Bulky - US 13-15 (9-10mm)
See this [blog post][2] for tips on working with super bulky yarns, including where to find needles and other notions.

Dictynna Knit Shawl by Tori Gurbisz
What Is Being Made
Dictynna is a split square shawl designed by Tori Gurbisz and published by Lachesis and Co. This intermediate-level knitting project works up quickly in super bulky yarn and is available in two sizes: a single skein version and a larger two-skein version. The shawl's design is inspired by Greek mythology, named after Dictynna, the goddess of the nets, and references the designer's earlier collection titled Poseidon's Realm, Part One.
Construction and Techniques
Dictynna is worked from the top down, beginning with a garter tab cast-on. The split square construction creates a distinctive geometric shape that is both visually striking and structurally sound. The pattern is designed to work up at an impressive speed, making it an ideal project for knitters seeking quick results without sacrificing design quality. The shawl's construction allows for flexibility in customization—knitters can easily adjust the size and yarn weight by working additional repeats of the main body pattern, making this design adaptable to various preferences and yarn stash options.
Stitches and Stitch Patterns
The shawl features a garter stitch foundation for the opening tab, followed by a main body pattern that is worked in repeats. The pattern is provided in both written and charted instructions, accommodating different knitter preferences and reading styles. The main body pattern works to a gauge of 6 stitches and 8 rows over 4 inches (10 centimeters).
Materials and Tools
Dictynna is designed to showcase super bulky yarn, specifically Malabrigo Rasta, which is 100% Merino Wool. Each skein contains 90 yards and weighs 150 grams. The single skein version shown in the pattern is worked in the colorway Arco Iris, while the two-skein version is shown in Azules. Knitters will need a US 19 (15mm) circular needle measuring 32 inches, along with 8 stitch markers and a yarn needle for finishing.
Skill Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with some experience who are ready to work with larger needles and bulkier yarns while following multi-row pattern repeats.
