This cute little elephant is my own design, when finished measure's 6" long and 7" high The pattern is quite straight forward I recommend it as an advanced beginner/intermediate pattern. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow if you know the basic stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi. Lots of pictures are included in the PDF. The pattern is a PDF and you will need Adobe Reader to open it.I will be happy to help you along if you have any questions when making it.
You will need Approx.50g of 4ply yarn (i used Patons fairytale) Small amount of contrasting yarn 25g d.k/light worsted A pair of safety eyes Stuffing 3.5mm hook Tapestry needle
You can use any yarn with the appropriate hook but the finished size will be different.
This is a crochet elephant toy designed by Alison North of KornflakeStew. The finished stuffed animal measures approximately 7 inches in height when made with the recommended yarn and hook size, making it an ideal handmade gift or decorative piece. The pattern produces a three-dimensional amigurumi-style toy elephant with distinct body parts including a body, head, trunk, ears, and feet.
This project uses the crochet technique to create a soft, cuddly toy through the amigurumi method—a Japanese craft of crocheting small, stuffed figures. The pattern is written in American crochet terminology and is suitable for crafters with easy to intermediate skill levels. The design involves working in the round to build three-dimensional shapes, which are then stuffed and assembled together to form the complete elephant.
While the PDF content does not specify individual stitch names in detail, amigurumi elephant patterns typically employ fundamental crochet stitches including single crochet for tight, dense fabric that holds stuffing securely. The pattern uses stitch markers (which can be made from scrap yarn) to track the beginning of rounds, a standard practice in circular crochet work. Assembly involves joining separate crocheted pieces—the body, head, trunk, ears, and feet—using a tapestry needle to create a cohesive toy.
When constructed with 4ply yarn and a 3.0mm hook as recommended, the completed crochet elephant toy measures approximately 7 inches in height.
