Coral Bells Baby Set Knitting Pattern
Project Overview
The Coral Bells Baby Set is an original knitting design by Wendy Siladji of Tat'sgran's Treasures, featuring a coordinated collection of garments sized for infants aged 3-6 months. This beginner-friendly pattern includes a sleeveless dress and a matching bolero, both designed to be worked in soft baby yarn for delicate, wearable pieces.
Garment Details
Sleeveless Dress: This simple, elegant dress is designed with a finished chest measurement of 18 inches and a length of 13 inches, providing comfortable coverage for a 3-6 month old infant. The sleeveless construction makes it ideal for layering or warm weather wear.
Bolero: A coordinating short bolero completes the set, with a finished chest measurement of 19 inches and a length of 7 inches. This lightweight layer adds versatility to the dress, allowing for temperature adjustment and styling options.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
As a beginner-level knitting pattern, the Coral Bells Baby Set employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for those new to the craft. The pattern utilizes basic knit and purl stitches to create the fabric structure. The gauge is worked at 28 stitches and 30 rows over a 4-inch square, which is typical for baby weight yarn and helps ensure proper fit for the infant sizing.
Construction details include button bands for the shoulder straps on the dress and the bolero closure, incorporating practical buttonhole techniques. The design emphasizes simplicity and ease of construction while maintaining a polished, finished appearance.
