Product Description
This wrap is all about playing with color. I used three colors for the sample you can use as many as you like. I made the halves different lengths and arranged differently you may do the same or do something entirely different. I made the sample with Emma’s Yarn Practically Perfect Sock. I really liked working with this yarn and the colors are absolutely wonderful! Go grab some yarn and get playing!

Caro Wrap by Jennifer Wood
What is Being Made
The Caro Wrap is an elegant knitted shawl designed by Jennifer Wood. This wrap features a distinctive arrow-shaped silhouette with finished blocked measurements of 86 inches (218.5 cm) long by 18 inches (46 cm) wide, making it a versatile accessory suitable for layering or draping.
Construction Method
This wrap is constructed using a unique two-piece knitting technique. Each piece is knit from the ends toward the center, allowing crafters to work from both directions simultaneously. The two pieces are then joined at the sides using live stitches to create a joining wedge, resulting in a seamless center meeting point. The arrow shape is achieved through a strategic interplay of edge decreases offset by center increases, creating a pointed silhouette that directs visual interest toward the center of the wrap.
Stitches and Techniques Used
- Garter Stitch: Forms the foundation for the mosaic patterns and striped sections throughout the wrap
- Stockinette Stitch: Used for the lace elements, providing contrast and visual interest against the garter stitch sections
- Mosaic Patterns: Colorwork technique worked in garter stitch using multiple yarn colors to create intricate patterned sections
- Striped Sections: Color changes worked in garter stitch to establish rhythmic horizontal bands
- Lace Work: Delicate openwork sections knit in stockinette stitch for an airy, elegant aesthetic
- Joining Wedges: Live stitches from each piece are grafted together to create seamless side joins
Yarn and Materials
Yarn: Emma's Yarn Practically Perfect Sock, a high-quality blend of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. This fiber composition provides durability, softness, and easy care. Three coordinating colorways are used: Nailed It (color A), After Dark (color B), and Volume (color C). Each color requires approximately 386 to 400 yards per 100-gram skein, with one skein of each color needed for the complete wrap.
Needles: Size 3 (3.25mm) needles are used throughout the project.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 36 rows equal 4 inches (10 cm) in blocked garter stitch. The pattern notes that gauge is not critical, making this an accessible project for knitters seeking flexibility in their finished dimensions.
Additional Supplies: Two stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats, a tapestry needle for weaving in ends, and pins for blocking to achieve the finished measurements.
Difficulty Level
This wrap is rated as an intermediate knitting project. While the fundamental stitches—garter stitch and stockinette stitch—are accessible to knitters with basic skills, the combination of mosaic colorwork, lace sections, and the two-piece construction with live stitch joining requires intermediate-level understanding of pattern reading and knitting techniques.
