Product Description
This beautiful versatile baby blanket is knitted using PaintBox Double Knit yarn. Because each square is knitted individually the blanket can be made as large or as small as is required for your chosen project.
Each square has been crocheted together but it would equally be just as beautiful if you used a blanket stitch.
The beauty of this pattern is the versatility of it. By adding squares it can be made to fit a child’s bed or even an adults. Take away a few squares and it could be made into a lap blanket, pram blanket or even a car seat blanket.
Each square contains a very tactile bobble heart design and its an ideal pattern to use up any odd balls of yarn left over from other projects.
Bless Her Heart Baby Blanket
What is Being Made
The Bless Her Heart is a versatile baby blanket designed by Mandy Wilson of A Crafty Life by Mandy. This knitted throw features a modular construction where individual squares are created separately and then assembled together, allowing crafters to customize the final size of the blanket to suit their specific project needs.
Construction and Techniques
The blanket employs a modular knitting approach, with each square knitted as an independent unit before being joined together. This technique offers significant flexibility in project sizing—crafters can create a smaller or larger blanket by simply adjusting the number of squares included in the final design.
For assembly, the pattern provides multiple joining options to suit different preferences and skill levels. The primary method uses crochet to join the squares, though the designer notes that alternative finishing techniques produce equally beautiful results. These alternatives include:
- Blanket stitch
- Mattress stitch
- Daisy chain stitch (with instructions provided in the pattern)
Stitches and Yarn Details
This intermediate-level knitting pattern is worked in DK weight yarn, specifically using PaintBox DK yarn as specified in the original design. The DK weight provides a balanced fabric suitable for baby blankets—lightweight enough for comfort while maintaining sufficient structure and drape.
The modular square construction combined with the joining techniques creates a finished blanket with excellent versatility for both aesthetic customization and functional sizing.
Pattern Information
Designed by Mandy Wilson and published by A Crafty Life by Mandy, this pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF format for personal use. The intermediate difficulty level makes it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to explore modular construction techniques.
