Basic Leaf Pattern 2 Ways

You can use this to accompany some beautiful flowers, or as an applique on any number of things.

You can use any yarn with respective hook to make your leaves. In the photo, I have used Artiste #10 Crochet Thread in a Dark Olive colorway, I Love This Sportsweight Yarn in Red, I Love This Yarn in Burnt Pumpkin, Red Heart Super Saver in Purple and Lion Brand Thick N Quick in the Barley colorway with these hooks respectively: B2mm, G6/4mm, I9/5.5mm, M13/9mm and N15/10mm. You'll also need a tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

In this pattern, I give the basic leaf pattern, with instructions on how to work the vein. Without the vein, each leaf takes about 5 minutes to finish, while with it, it adds about another minute.

To make your own leaf using this pattern, you'll need to know the following abbreviations: DC - Double Crochet, TR - Treble Crochet, DTR - Double Treble Crochet (Explained), HDC - Half Double Crochet, and SC - Single Crochet.
