It was made on 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK 13, US 1) in Scheepjes Soft Fun Denim (516) sea green and Merino Soft (606) Da Vinci, Lopi Einband (0886) beige and (1038) light beige heather, and peach Tréliz Hestia.
Multi-functional Baby Yoda can be made into a toy, a hand puppet or a figurine (fitting over the inside of a toilet roll), measures 18 cm and is an easy project with straightforward, flat knitted parts that are assembled into Baby Yoda. The face is embroidered with optional crocheting and has an instance of short rows. It has quite some defining characteristics, you can decide for yourself how many features you’d like to replicate on your own Baby Yoda.

Baby Yoda - "The Child" Knitted Toy by AnimalKnitdom
What Is Being Made
This downloadable knitting pattern creates an adorable replica of "The Child," the beloved green character from the Star Wars television series "The Mandalorian," commonly known as Baby Yoda. The finished toy captures the character's distinctive features and charm at a fraction of the cost of the original television puppet, making it an accessible and fun handmade project for fans of the franchise.
Craft and Techniques
This is a knitting project designed for beginners, making it an excellent introduction to toy construction through knitting. The pattern uses fundamental knitting techniques to build a three-dimensional stuffed toy, combining different yarn weights and textures to create visual interest and realistic details that bring the character to life.
Stitches and Construction Methods
The pattern employs standard knitting stitches suitable for beginner-level crafters. The toy is constructed in separate pieces—the head, hands, and body components—which are then assembled together. The use of double pointed needles allows for seamless circular knitting, a common technique for creating rounded toy pieces that require minimal seaming.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
This pattern utilizes varied yarn weights to achieve different aesthetic effects across the finished toy:
- Needles: 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK size 13, US size 1)
- Head and Hands: Scheepjes Soft Fun Denim in shade 516 sea green, providing the character's signature green coloring
