Product Description
This is one of those accidental knitting patterns. My husband John had designed a new yarn butler for slippery yarn that is small and portable for my local yarn shop. I was doing the Alpha testing on the yarn butler over Thanksgiving weekend.
This shawl is a one skein wonder. It is knit from the bottom up. the pattern has a steep increase of 1 increase per 2 rows. It can be worn in the forwards or backwards. I modified a pattern that required bulky yarn in a man made fiber that I don't use.
A Shawl Study 1 by Sheri Karobonik
Project Overview
A Shawl Study 1 is a beginner-friendly knitted shawl pattern designed by independent designer Sheri Karobonik. This downloadable PDF pattern emerged from an accidental design process during alpha testing of a yarn butler tool. The pattern was developed and refined through multiple iterations to ensure accuracy and clarity for knitters of all skill levels.
What Is Being Made
This pattern produces a knitted shawl suitable for beginner knitters. The shawl is part of a larger collection called "A Shawl Study," which features three distinct shawl styles, each incorporating different yarns and design variations. This particular shawl represents one interpretation from the study series.
Craft and Techniques
The project utilizes knitting as the primary craft method. The pattern was developed through hands-on testing and refinement, with the designer re-knitting the shawl while taking detailed notes to ensure pattern accuracy. This methodical approach guarantees that knitters following the pattern will achieve consistent results.
Yarn and Materials
This shawl pattern is designed for 4-ply yarn weight, which provides a versatile medium for creating well-defined stitches and a balanced fabric. The pattern accommodates various yarn types, as the complete Shawl Study series explores different yarn options across its three designs.
Difficulty Level
Rated as beginner difficulty, this pattern is accessible to knitters who are new to shawl construction and fundamental knitting techniques.
