Lovely little Noah cardi Joan Louie will look so cute in it. l was very interested to read about your yarn choices and experiences and those of others. This is sort of where I am I am realising importance of getting the yarn right for the project.I used dk when 4 ply was asked for and realised why ;) Also there’s mention of 3 needle bind off not sure if I quite know it I’m thinking you might mean Kitchener stitch the only one I sort of use but I intend to have a go at this cardi as I have the pattern armed with tips from your posts thank you. @Jean F: thanks jean for all the above I’ve just finished little cardigan I was knitting so ready to start but one of grandsons is staying over so I’ll be playing monopoly instead of knitting today but it’s in my head ready thanks again 🥰

Thank you Maria 😊 I have used Kitchener stitch before. But for the three needle bind off, leave the stitches on the needles. Hold two needles with right sides together. Then cast off by. Knitting two together into first stitch from front and back needle. Do Same with second stitch’s. . Should now have two stitches on right hand needle . Pass first stitch over . Back to one stitch on right needle. Just continue to cast off in this way . Hope this makes sense 😊 A tip from Pat she attaches each front as she does it. Also leaves centre back stitches on holder, to use when doing border edging. So no need to pick stitches up at the back . Looking forward to seeing your finished cardie 😊🧶x

I love this cardigan Jean. And it’s a lovely colour. I’m hoping to have a go myself soon. Your tips about the yarn and the marker on the fronts will be a great help. I was worried that the DK I was planning to use would not be enough, but I have some sport which I could use instead. Size won’t be a problem as I’m making them for charity. 🥰
Thank you Helen, :-) Pat's patterns are great, easy and quick and contempory. My go to for a easy, stylish baby knit. Another tip from Pat, if you plan to do the 3 needle cast off for shoulder seams and front edging stitch, leave the centre back stitches on a holder, saves having to pick them up as you go round the edge. ie can just knit across. Look forward to seeing your finished charity knits. :-) x

Lovely little cardi' Jean, one of my fave designs. Lucky Louis 💙 The whole yarn thickness difference can be a real pain. Especially, as there's hardly any wool shops around these days to have a close look before you buy. Online shopping is limited like that.
Thank you Mary 😊 Yes it’s a great design Completely agree 😊 can be really hard to get it just right on line. 🤔 So much easier when you could just pop into the shop and physically choose the yarn. Seems to be hardly any independent wool shops left these days.

Lovely cardigan Jean. Great colour. I always use the 3 needle bind off at the shoulders too. I add each front as I make it leaving the centre stitches for the trim on a 4mm short circular instead of a stitch holder as it makes it so easy to transfer the stitches. I use small circulars instead of stitch holders all of the time if the amount of stitches warrants it. Not good for just a few though. It amazes me how yarns of the same category are so different in thickness. Some dk yarns are the same thickness as sport weight and I have a sport weight yarn that is definitely no thicker than a 4ply I have. It's crazy!
@Pat E: Thank you Pat 😊. All good to know, 😊 Helps when deciding which size to go for and which wool to go with. I’m sure I sometimes spent longer on this the I actually spend knitting. 😂 Just too much choice these days. Can get very confusing !!

@Jean F: My yarn shop went even before Covid. :-( I know that when I use the Rico merino dk it will come out a bit smaller than usual so don't use it very much especially for baby bits as they grow so quickly anyway!
@Pat E: I know it’s a shame, we used to have a little local shop, and the owner was very helpful and friendly. But sadly didn’t survive the pandemic, Thank you for the tip about the Rico, I will make a note and look out for it. Good to know. 😊👍.

Thank you Elaine 😊 yes anything to avoid having to sew thing up 😂 . Think also neater finish, for me anyway 😂 Also had a good tip from Pat, if planning to do the edging, leave the centre back stitches on holder, to save having to pick them up on way round 😊
