Triplicity is a reversible knit wrap designed by Kristy Howell. This intermediate-level shawl project features a unique construction that uses three different colors of fingering weight yarn, with only one color worked per row. The finished wrap measures 17 inches (47 cm) wide, making it a versatile accessory suitable for layering or draping.

Stitch Techniques and Pattern Details

The wrap utilizes a brioche stitch variation as its primary stitch pattern. This brioche technique is worked on larger needles than typical for fingering weight yarn, which creates a light and open fabric while maintaining subtle brioche texture characteristics. The stitch pattern is intentionally reversible and visually interesting on both sides of the fabric. The designer notes that the reverse side—which displays a distinctive woven appearance—is particularly appealing and may be preferred by some knitters.

The brioche construction involves slipped stitches throughout the pattern.
