Product Description

Little M Blanket is a nice project for using leftovers. I used the same yarns with different colors, but you can use any kind of yarns.

Construction:

The first section starts at one corner, creating a triangle shape by increasing both edges of the work.

The middle section is a parallelogram, worked by continuing to increase one edge but decreasing the other.

The end section decreases both edges until they meet at the final corner. This resulting end triangle mirrors the first section.

This pattern is very easy and the size is easily adjustable.

Please note that the same amount of yarn is used for the beginning and ending triangle shaped sections.

Size: one size (easily adjustable) Witdth 60cm Length: 110cm

What is Being Made

The Little M Blanket is a knitted throw blanket designed as an excellent project for using leftover yarns. This versatile blanket measures 60cm in width and 110cm in length, making it a practical size for a cozy throw. The pattern is specifically noted as beginner-friendly and offers easy adjustability, allowing crafters to customize the final dimensions to suit their preferences.

Construction Method

The Little M Blanket features a distinctive three-section construction that creates visual interest and demonstrates fundamental knitting techniques:

  • Section 1 (Beginning Triangle): The blanket begins at one corner with a triangle shape created by increasing both edges of the work simultaneously. This establishes the foundation and width of the piece.
  • Section 2 (Middle Parallelogram): The construction continues by working a parallelogram section. During this middle phase, one edge continues to increase while the opposite edge decreases, creating the characteristic slanted shape.
  • Section 3 (Ending Triangle): The final section mirrors the first triangle by decreasing both edges until they meet at the opposite corner, completing the blanket with balanced symmetry.

An important design feature is that the beginning and ending triangle sections use the same amount of yarn, ensuring balanced proportions throughout the piece. This construction method makes the pattern very easy to follow while remaining visually sophisticated.

Techniques and Stitches

The Little M Blanket employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for beginner-level crafters. The primary techniques used are edge increases and decreases worked consistently throughout the three sections. These basic shaping methods create the geometric progression from triangle to parallelogram to triangle without requiring complex stitch patterns. The straightforward nature of the construction makes it an ideal project for developing foundational knitting skills while producing a finished item of practical size and beauty.

Materials and Yarn Specifications

The Little M Blanket is designed to work with DK weight yarn, making it accessible for various yarn types and fiber contents. The pattern encourages creative use of leftover yarns, allowing crafters to work with multiple colors and yarn brands simultaneously.

Sample Project Materials: The blanket shown in the pattern uses approximately 825 meters of yarn distributed across three color sections of Drops Cotton Merino (DK weight, 110m per 50g ball):

  • Color 1 (#13 Coral): 2 balls
  • Color 2 (#5 Powder Pink): 3.5 balls
  • Color 3 (#28 Powder): 2 balls

Total yarn requirement is 8 balls for the complete blanket. Crafters may substitute any DK weight yarns of similar yardage, making this pattern highly adaptable to personal yarn stashes and color preferences. Standard knitting needles appropriate for DK weight yarn are required to complete this project.
