Product Description
Welcome to the Escape Beanie.
Thank you so much for the compliment of looking at my pattern.
If you’ve already seen (and hopefully downloaded) the Escape Cowl pattern, you will know I have a love for all things geometric. This beanie was the natural next step after the cowl.
This is knit in the round from the bottom up, starting with a simple 2x2 rib section followed by an easily flowing pattern that is essentially just seven different rows of knits and purls, finished off with a decreasing section that carefully maintains the pattern flow.
There are handy progress check boxes at the end of each row so you can keep a visual track of where you are.
As always, I can’t wait to see your fabulous knits. Tag @beanieboat on Instagram and allow me to vicariously live through your knits.
If you like this pattern, please give it a favourite and know that your support is much appreciated. x
Escape Beanie by Nici Griffin
What is Being Made
The Escape Beanie is a knitted hat designed by Nici Griffin of Beanie Boat. This beanie combines geometric pattern work with straightforward construction, making it an ideal project for knitters seeking a design that appears more intricate than its actual complexity. The finished beanie is versatile enough for gifting or creating multiple versions in different colors for personal use.
Construction Method
The Escape Beanie is knit in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a ribbed cuff section that provides stretch and structure. Following the ribbing, the pattern transitions into a flowing geometric design that maintains visual interest throughout the crown. The construction method ensures a seamless, professional finish typical of in-the-round knitting techniques.
Pattern and Stitches
Despite its sophisticated appearance, the Escape Beanie pattern relies on fundamental knitting stitches. The geometric design is created using only seven different rows of knits and purls, making this project accessible to beginners while delivering impressive visual results. The pattern is provided in both written and charted formats, allowing knitters to choose their preferred method of following instructions.
Progress checkboxes are included at the end of each row, providing a visual tracking system to help knitters monitor their advancement through the pattern and maintain their place during the knitting process.
Materials
The Escape Beanie is worked in DK weight yarn on appropriate needles for in-the-round knitting. The DK weight yarn selection allows for a fabric with good drape and definition, making the geometric stitch pattern clearly visible in the finished beanie.
Skill Level
Classified as a beginner difficulty project, the Escape Beanie is well-suited for knitters new to in-the-round construction or those looking to expand their pattern-reading skills with a quick, confidence-building project.
